🚧 TRANSPORTATION FUNDING

The Idaho Transportation Department says it’s moving ahead with current road projects despite losing $275 million in funding. Officials say all projects already under construction will be completed, while more than $2.7 billion in future transportation projects across Idaho remain unfunded for now.

⛽ GAS PRICES RISE

After just one day below four dollars, Idaho’s average gas price is back up to $4.01 a gallon. AAA Idaho says rising tensions in the Middle East are pushing crude oil prices higher but hopes renewed talks with Iran could help bring prices back down.

🗳 VOTER DATABASE DISPUTE

The Trump administration is warning Idaho election officials they could face criminal charges if noncitizens vote in next year’s midterm elections. Secretary of State Phil McGrane has declined to provide federal officials access to Idaho’s voter registration database while a lawsuit remains on hold.

🤝 COMMUNITY RESOURCE NETWORK EXPANDS

Idaho is expanding its Community Resource Network to make it easier for families to find help with housing, food, childcare, and other services. State officials say Idaho’s 211 hotline and FindHelpIdaho.org now share the same statewide database of resources.

🚨 I-84 PEDESTRIAN CRITICALLY INJURED

A 76-year-old Boise man is in critical condition after being hit by a car while walking in the right lane of westbound Interstate 84 near Meridian early yesterday morning. Idaho State Police say the 19-year-old driver from Meridian was uninjured.

🚔 DEADLY POLICE PURSUIT

Two people were killed after a police pursuit near Shelley late Saturday night. The male suspect, who was wanted on a felony warrant, drove the wrong way on Interstate 15 before deputies used a PIT maneuver. Both the suspect and an adult female passenger died after the vehicle rolled.

🚗 CAR CRASHES INTO BOISE HOME

A driver was cited for inattentive driving after crashing into a Boise home yesterday. The residents have been displaced, and the Boise Fire Burnout Fund is helping them while repairs are made.

🚨 BOISE GREENBELT ATTACK

Javier Ortiz, a 26-year-old from Ontario, Oregon, is facing kidnapping and aggravated assault charges after Boise Police say he attacked a woman on the Greenbelt Saturday night. Two nearby residents heard her screams, intervened, and officers arrested Ortiz just minutes later.

🔥 TWIN FALLS TRAILER FIRE

A man escaped a trailer fire that broke out Saturday evening at Cameo Estates in Twin Falls. Firefighters say the blaze started around 5:40, was knocked down in about 10 minutes, and the man was treated for smoke inhalation. Sadly, his dog did not survive.

🔥 WILDFIRE UPDATE

The Claremont Fire in the Boise Foothills is now 6,777 acres and 57% contained. The Reservoir Fire in Gooding County is 100% contained, while a new wildfire south of Stanley has prompted a Level 2 “Set” evacuation for nearby residents.

📣 SUN VALLEY PROTEST

Protesters gathered in Sun Valley over the weekend, rallying outside the annual Allen & Company conference to call attention to wealth inequality and the influence of billionaires on public policy.

🏄 WAKE IN THE SNAKE

Wakeboarding took over Burley yesterday as the 28th annual Wake in the Snake brought 55 riders to Rivers Edge Golf Club. Chase Shaw captured the Open Men’s title, while Rebekah Calvin won the Open Women’s division. Other champions included Kenneth Russell in Veterans, Brody Trail in Junior Men, and Briggs Ruff in Men’s One. The annual event once again showcased some of the region’s top wakeboarding talent.

🚗 OAKLEY PIONEER DAYS

Oakley Pioneer Days are officially underway after the 18th annual Bump and Rub car races kicked off the week-long celebration yesterday. The annual event features 21 activities, including tournaments, a community barbecue, parade, and rodeo. Organizers say it all happens thanks to strong community support, making Pioneer Days one of Southern Idaho’s most anticipated summer traditions.

⚽ CSI MEN’S SOCCER

The College of Southern Idaho men’s soccer team is adding international talent for the 2026 season. New Golden Eagles include players from Spain, Brazil, Germany, and France, along with local midfielder Max Serrano, as CSI continues building its roster for the upcoming campaign.

🐴 BOISE STATE JOINS PAC-12

Boise State is officially a full member of the Pac-12 after nearly two years of preparation. Athletic Director Jeramiah Dickey says the move is about raising the bar for every Broncos program. Behind the scenes, staff have spent months updating uniforms, facilities, and branding as Boise State begins a new era with higher competition and greater national exposure.

⚽ ATHLETIC CLUB BOISE WINS

Athletic Club Boise wrapped up USL Cup group play with a 2-0 win over Sacramento Republic FC. Nick Moon scored early, and Tumi Moshobane added the insurance goal in the second half. Goalkeeper Jonathan Kliewer recorded six saves for his second straight shutout as Boise picked up its third win over a USL Championship opponent this season.
