HIGH-PROFILE IDAHO MURDER CASE MOVES TO CANYON COUNTY
A high-profile Idaho murder case is heading to a new county. Stacey Wondra, charged in the 2021 disappearance and death of Michael Vaughan, will now stand trial in Canyon County after a judge approved a venue change. No new court dates have been scheduled, and Wondra remains jailed in Payette County.
MERIDIAN SHOOTING APPEARS ACCIDENTAL
Meridian Police say a shooting outside the IHOP near Eagle Road Tuesday night appears to have been an accidental self-inflicted gunshot wound. An adult man suffered a gunshot injury to the head and is in critical condition.
FATAL GOODING COUNTY CRASH
An 18-year-old Shoshone man has died from injuries suffered in a crash east of Gooding last week. Police say the driver of a Ford Explorer struck the back of a turning Freightliner on U.S. 26 near milepost 153 on June 3rd.
MINI-CASSIA I-84 NIGHT CLOSURES
If you’re traveling through Mini-Cassia next week, expect night-time lane closures on eastbound I-84 near Heyburn’s Exit 211. The ITD says paving work will close one lane at a time June 18th and 19th from 6 p.m. to 7 a.m.
WILDFIRE SEASON PREPAREDNESS
Twin Falls Fire Chief Mitchell Brooks says strong community partnerships are critical during emergencies. Officials are urging residents to prepare now for wildfire season with evacuation plans and defensible space around homes.
WORKFORCE TRAINING AND FOSTER YOUTH SAVINGS
Governor Brad Little has created a new Workforce Pell Coordinating Council to help Idaho implement federal Workforce Pell Grants. The program will expand access to short-term job training and build on the success of Idaho LAUNCH.

IDAHO AMERICA 250 PLANNING DISPUTE
A disagreement over event spending sparked a heated exchange between Idaho Secretary of State Phil McGrane and State Treasurer Julie Ellsworth during planning for Idaho’s America 250 celebration. The advisory council ultimately approved an extra $10,000 for performer costs, public water, paramedics, and other event expenses ahead of the July 4th celebration in Boise.

MINICO STORM SWEEP TWIN FALLS
The Minico Storm Legion B baseball team is proving once again why it’s the team to beat in the Magic Valley. The Storm swept Twin Falls in a Tuesday doubleheader, winning 17-8 and 17-11 to extend their winning streak to nine games. Taysom Phillips powered the offense with six hits and nine RBIs across the two contests, while Waycen Gillette struck out eight batters in four innings. Minico has now established itself as the early favorite to capture a fourth straight American Legion B state championship.
BUHL TRIBE SPLIT WITH BEAR LAKE
The Buhl Tribe Legion A baseball team split a doubleheader with Bear Lake on Tuesday. Buhl dropped the opener 7-6 after surrendering the lead in the final innings, with walks, wild pitches and passed balls proving costly. The Tribe bounced back in game two with a convincing 9-1 victory behind a dominant pitching performance from Zayne Meck. Meck struck out 10 batters over four innings, allowing just one hit as Buhl collected 13 hits to earn the split.
CSI RODEO HEADS TO NATIONAL FINALS
The College of Southern Idaho will be well represented at the College National Finals Rodeo beginning Sunday. Nine Golden Eagles qualified, including four women and five men. The CSI women’s team captured the Rocky Mountain Region title, while competitors will take part in breakaway roping, barrel racing, goat tying, bull riding, saddle bronc, bareback riding and steer wrestling through June 20th.
CSI SOFTBALL ALL-AMERICANS
Two College of Southern Idaho softball stars have earned NJCAA All-American honors. Adi Hansen was named a First Team All-American after leading the nation with 62 stolen bases and batting .457. Rilyne Keck earned Second Team honors after hitting .406 with 80 RBIs. CSI finished the season 43-and-13 with conference and regional championships.
CSI BASEBALL ALL-AMERICAN HONOR
College of Southern Idaho’s Crew Secrist has been named an NJCAA Honorable Mention All-American. The sophomore outfielder hit .441 with 23 doubles, five home runs and 63 RBIs while earning Region 18 Player of the Year honors. Secrist also set CSI wood-bat era records for season and career doubles before signing with Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
HOT WHEELS MONSTER TRUCKS LIVE MAKES HISTORY
Hot Wheels Monster Trucks Live made history Saturday night at Albertsons Stadium, drawing a sold-out crowd of more than 30,000 fans from across the country and around the world. Former Boise State star Ashton Jeanty returned to debut the Bronco-themed “Smashton Jeanty” monster truck. Organizers say it was the largest single-day Hot Wheels Monster Trucks Live event ever staged in the U.S.
IDAHO VANDAL EARNS ALL-AMERICAN HONORS
Idaho Vandal Blake Sturgis capped his career with Second Team All-American honors at the NCAA Outdoor Championships. The senior javelin thrower finished 14th in the nation after a top throw of 231 feet, 7 inches. Sturgis closes his career as one of the top throwers in Idaho program history.
IDAHO STATE SPORTS HALL OF FAME CLASS
Idaho State University has announced its 2026 Sports Hall of Fame class. Honorees include softball standout Hailey Breakwell, tennis star Mike Castrilli, basketball standout Chelsea Pickering Hooker, longtime coach Brian Janssen, volleyball great Tressa Lyman Page, and Phil and Bekki Meador, who will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award. The induction ceremony is set for October 24th in Pocatello ahead of the Bengals’ football game against Portland State.
