HIGH-SPEED PURSUIT CRASHES INTO HOME

Twin Falls County authorities say a high-speed pursuit early Saturday morning ended in a dramatic crash near 2300 East and 4100 North. Reports say a white BMW reached speeds over 100 miles per hour before crashing through a house near the end of 2300 East and rolling.

IDAHO TRANSGENDER BATHROOM LAW

A federal judge is expected to rule soon on whether to temporarily block Idaho’s new transgender bathroom law before it takes effect July 1st. Attorneys debated Friday how the law would be enforced and whether it is unconstitutionally vague.

IDAHO WILDFIRES

Fire crews are making progress on several Idaho wildfires. The Blue Ridge Fire in Owyhee County is now fully contained at more than 14,000 acres. Meanwhile, the Michaud Creek Fire near Pocatello has grown to about 1,300 acres, and the Scottpit Fire near Parma is estimated at 50 acres with containment expected today.

TWIN FALLS MOTEL SHOOTING SENTENCE

Thirty-one-year-old Tobi Rae Smith of Twin Falls has been sentenced to a minimum of eight years in prison for a 2025 motel shooting that seriously injured a male acquaintance. Smith pleaded guilty to aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and was also ordered to pay the victim a $5,000 civil penalty.

IDAHO NATIONAL GUARD DEACTIVATION

The Idaho National Guard’s 116th Brigade Engineer Battalion was officially deactivated Friday in Twin Falls as the military shifts from tank-based operations to a more mobile infantry force.

IDAHO HOUSING COSTS

A new survey released by senator Mike Crapo shows both renters and homeowners are struggling with housing costs. Many called for more affordable housing options, lower property taxes, and increased housing availability across the state.

BURLEY WASTEWATER FUNDING

Burley has secured $20 million in federal funding to begin replacing its aging industrial wastewater treatment plant. City officials say the project will improve water quality, support growth, and help meet environmental regulations.

PAYETTE RIVER BODY RECOVERED

Yesterday afternoon, responders recovered a body from the North Fork of the Payette River about three miles downstream from last week’s crash site along Highway 55 north of Cascade. Investigators believe the victim was the driver involved in that crash.

IDAHO STATE POLICE CRASH INVESTIGATIONS

Idaho State Police are investigating two serious crashes. Near Nampa last night, a Ford pickup driver left the scene after a collision with a Volkswagen carrying two juveniles. Both were hospitalized. In North Idaho, a 16-year-old Rathdrum girl died after losing control of her car on Highway 41 and striking a traffic signal pole Friday afternoon.

IDAHO BOWL FEATURES MAGIC VALLEY PLAYERS

The 2026 Idaho Bowl kicks off this week in Caldwell, and several Magic Valley middle school football players will be among the state’s best talent. More than 70 schools from across Idaho will be represented at the event, which includes a mini-camp and all-star games at Simplot Stadium. Kimberly head coach Juan Alvarado will lead the seventh-grade team, helping young athletes measure their skills against top players from around the state. The Idaho Bowl games begin Friday, June 12th, and admission is free with donations encouraged for Ronald McDonald House Charities.

SPIRIT OF THE MAGIC VALLEY RACE

A local race is helping Magic Valley runners go farther than the finish line. The Spirit of the Magic Valley drew 258 runners Saturday to Shoshone Falls and the Canyon Rim Trail, raising money for the Run It Forward Foundation. Founded by Canyon Ridge cross country coach Marilyn Tarkalson, the nonprofit helps local track and cross-country athletes cover costs for elite competitions and travel. Volunteers from several area schools helped run the event, with proceeds going directly toward creating more opportunities for student-athletes across south-central Idaho.

JEROME HORSE RACING WEEKEND

The Jerome Horse Racing Association hosted its first June race weekend with more than 50 horses competing in 10 races at the Jerome County Fairgrounds. Volunteers have kept the tradition alive for the past four years, promoting quarter horse racing and Idaho’s western heritage. Association President Rod Thomas says the goal is to get the next generation excited about racing, breeding, and horse ownership. The next race is set for June 21 and will serve as the championship finale for the two- and three-year-old trial races.

LIBERTY ACROSS JEROME COUNTY RELAY

As America 250 approaches, local cross country runners took part in the Liberty Across Jerome County relay. Athletes from Jerome and Valley High Schools carried American and America 250 flags on a 26-mile run from Hazelton City Park to Veterans Memorial Park in Jerome. Organized by Jerome County Commissioner Ben Crouch, the event celebrated patriotism, unity, and the nation’s upcoming 250th anniversary. Escorted by the Jerome County Sheriff’s Office, runners were cheered on by motorists before finishing with a community barbecue in Jerome.

ASHTON JEANTY RETURNS TO THE BLUE

Boise State legend Ashton Jeanty returned to Albertsons Stadium this weekend, but not with a football in hand. Jeanty debuted his own monster truck, “Smashton Jeanty,” during Hot Wheels Monster Trucks Live, the event’s first outdoor stadium show in the United States. Thousands of fans packed The Blue to welcome back the former Bronco star. While in Boise, Jeanty also talked about preparing for his second NFL season and accepted a donation for his Running 2 The Future foundation, which supports youth opportunities and community outreach.
