TWIN FALLS MASS SHOOTING INVESTIGATION
Twin Falls Police continue investigating Saturday’s deadly shooting at the In-N-Out Burger, where 3 people, including the gunman, died and seven were injured. Some of the victims have been identified as 23-year-old Ashley Garibay, an In-N-Out employee from California, and 59-year-old Christopher Claunch. Police say the third victim’s identity has not yet been officially released.
Meanwhile, Austin “AJ” James, an off-duty Idaho State Police officer who ran toward the gunfire to help others, was seriously wounded.
SHOOTER ATTENDED CSI
The College of Southern Idaho confirms the lone shooter, 24-year-old Chad Williams, attended the school from 2022 to 2023, served briefly in student government, and was removed from that role in early 2023. The college says he did not graduate.
Police confirmed Williams died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
NATIONAL NIGHT OUT CANCELED — VIGIL PLANNED
The Twin Falls Police Department has canceled tonight’s National Night Out, saying the community needs time to grieve following the tragic shooting at Canyon Park West. The event will be rescheduled.
Meanwhile, a candlelight vigil is planned for 9:00 tonight at Twin Falls City Park to honor the victims.
CHILD CRITICALLY INJURED IN KIMBERLY CRASH
Idaho State Police are investigating a serious crash in Kimberly. A juvenile riding a scooter was struck by an SUV yesterday afternoon on 4000 North and suffered critical injuries.
The child was airlifted to a local hospital. The 24-year-old Kimberly driver was not injured.
15 NEW IDAHO SCHOOLS OPENING
Fifteen new schools are opening across Idaho this fall. The additions include new elementary schools, charter schools, and virtual learning programs.
One of the new schools is Elevate Academy Twin Falls, which will focus on career and technical education for students in grades 6 through 10.
IDAHO GAS PRICES RISE AGAIN
Idaho drivers are paying even more at the pump. The average price for a gallon of regular gas is now $4.30, up six cents from last week.
Idaho now ranks as the 10th most expensive state in the nation for gasoline.
IDAHO CONSIDERED FOR NUCLEAR INNOVATION CAMPUS
Idaho is one of five states being considered for a new federal nuclear innovation campus.
But the proposal would require the state to accept spent nuclear fuel and high-level radioactive waste from other states, prompting debate over jobs and energy development versus environmental and nuclear waste concerns.

Firefighters remain on the fireline, continuing containment efforts and structure protection as evacuation notices remain in effect for some areas.

REINED COW HORSE SHOW RETURNS TO FILER
The Magic Valley Reined Cow Horse Association returns to the Twin Falls County Fairgrounds in Filer tomorrow through Saturday for its annual futurity, derby, and horse show.
The NRCHA-sanctioned event features 45 classes, more than $81,000 in payouts and awards, and riders from across the West. Last year’s event attracted 170 horses and 313 entries.
Spectators can watch elite horses compete in cutting, reining, and fence work, earning reined cow horse competition its nickname, “The Greatest Show on Dirt.”
CSI SIGNS BERRETT WILSON
The College of Southern Idaho has added another talented recruit for the upcoming basketball season.
The Golden Eagles have signed 6-foot-7 guard-forward Berrett Wilson from Madison High School in Rexburg. Wilson is a two-time 5A Conference Player of the Year, scored more than 1,000 career points, and helped lead Madison to four district titles.
He joins a CSI team coming off a national runner-up finish and Scenic West Athletic Conference championship, becoming the sixth member of the Golden Eagles’ 2026-27 recruiting class.
TWO BRONCOS ON MAXWELL AWARD WATCH LIST
Boise State is the only Pac-12 school with two players on the Maxwell Award Watch List for College Football Player of the Year.
Quarterback Maddux Madsen makes the list for the second straight season after leading the Broncos to another conference title and a College Football Playoff appearance.
Running back Dylan Riley earns his first Maxwell watch list nod after rushing for 1,125 yards and 10 touchdowns last season.
Maxwell Award finalists will be announced later this fall.
IDAHO STATE FOOTBALL BUILDS MOMENTUM
Idaho State football is building momentum as fall camp heads into week two.
Safeties coach Bobby Jay says the Bengals’ secondary is showing strong leadership and depth, with veterans Decker Hagler, Parker Graham, and Troy Wilkey standing out early.
Meanwhile, Idaho State is just outside the Stats Perform FCS Top 25, leading all teams receiving votes, and running back Dason Brooks has been named to the prestigious Walter Payton Award watch list.
BOISE STATE ATHLETICS SETS FUNDRAISING RECORD
Boise State Athletics raised a record $42 million in cash and commitments during the 2026 fiscal year, marking the fifth straight year with more than $20 million in fundraising.
The support helped fund the new North End Zone Project at Albertsons Stadium and backed student-athlete scholarships and facilities.
The Broncos also celebrated 11 conference championships, a department-record 3.48 semester GPA, and have launched a new campaign to raise another $30 million before the end of their first Pac-12 year.
KAITLYN SLOCUM EARNS NATIONAL RECOGNITION
Boise State senior defender Kaitlyn Slocum is getting national recognition.
The Meridian native has been named one of 40 defenders to watch by United Soccer Coaches and is one of just three Pac-12 defenders on the list.
Slocum helped anchor a Broncos defense that recorded six shutouts last season. She joins goalkeeper Ava de Leest on the preseason watch lists as Boise State opens the 2026 season August 12 at home against CSUN.
